flagstaff abbey

a community of Jesus living a contemplative way into peace and reconciliation

Since many of us are scattered at this time I'd thought we could try to keep connected through a shared project this season of Christmas. Through the twelve days of Christmas I wonder if we could each post pictures, essays, stories, poems, thoughts, videos for where we see the presence of God breaking into this world, holding humanity, and offering encouragement and hope, peace and joy. So feel free to come back to this forum ever so often during Christmas and share so we can all wonder together about the mystery of this season in the God become flesh.

Merry Christmas to you all. I love you all so much and find joy in sharing this alternative journey with you all. I hope you get the rest you need and to experience joy in unexpected ways.

Peace to you. Now Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

Brilliant! What a wonderful idea. I was wondering what I'd do for the 12 days of Christmas, and now I know. Unexpected joy is going to be a theme, I think. Love love love to you, and to all.

I recently just sent out my cards cards AND my Christmas e-cards. The latter has a tone of conern for the future and the longing for the fulfillment of Christ's promise of hope and healing of our broken world. This morning I got two replies from my more metaphysical friends. One focused on the promise of change referencing the Mayans and other ancestors. The second quoted a letter from "the Universe" :

If it's not yet obvious to you, the real reason for this season is you, Robbie. A more perfect child of the Universe has never lived. Until now, only a celebration cloaked in myth and mystery could hint at your sublime heritage and divine destiny. You are life's prayer of becoming and its answer. The first light at the dawn of eternity, drawn from the ether, so that the Universe might know its depths, discover its heights, and frolic in endless seas of blessed emotion.

A pioneer into illusion, an adventurer into the unknown, and a lifter of veils. Courageous, heroic and exalted by billions in the unseen.

To give beyond reason. To care beyond hope. To love without limit. To reach, stretch, and dream, in spite of your fears. These are the hallmarks of divinity - traits of the immortal - your badges of honor. Wear them with a pride as great as the unspeakable pride we feel for you.

Your light has illuminated darkened paths, your gaze has lifted broken spirits, and already your life has changed the destiny of all who will ever follow.

This is the time of year we celebrate Robbie Bergman.

Bowing before Greatness,
The Universe
